bands are weird
i have no idea why someone would want to be in a band
i don't know why i am
it is such a weird thing to do
to pour stuff out in front of people
maybe it is all for approval
which is strange because i don't give a fuck what they think
maybe if we were paid more attention as kids
maybe if we felt safer
maybe maybe maybe
who cares
anyone worth anything does it because they love music
they know how it feels to be totally wiped out by a song
and they wanna try and do that to someone else
maybe it helps us connect
what do i know
you just take what you can from it
don't get to involved
it is weird seeing bands turn up at soundcheck
some are so young and scared
they got their parents to help them with stuff
and they really want to play well
they never say a word
but you should always talk to them anyway
they are almost always nice
the other type of band will be 'up and coming'
basically just like us
but we managed to steal the headline slot from them
they will hate you because they never heard of you
and they know they are better
and gonna be on TOTP before you
and they will always sound like the verve
if the verve were not into music very much
they will have their stage clothes
they will have way to many industry names on the guest list
that will never show up
they will ask the promoter about their cut of the door
and feel the need to check out your dressing room
they are always this close to getting signed to a major
they will never say a word to you
but only because they suck so bad
not because they are shy or anything
they will also cuss you all the way home in the van
and laugh at every bad review you get in the press
this is why i hate most bands
to many damaged little boys
seafood rule but that's a different world to this one...
