Chunky Ate a Bee hail from deepest Braintree in Essex with a love of barbecues, trees, badges, big old buses and ninjas to mention a few. Not much happens in Braintree, although for about two weeks at the start of the century it was described as “the punk rock capital of the world”.

Well those days are gone but Chunky Ate a Bee still believe in punk rock, still believe in lo-fi DIY and still believe in their home town.

Influenced by robots, dinosaurs, skeletons and the NFL, Chunky Ate a Bee probably want to be a country band but ended up sounding more like the Rentals without the Moogs!

Chunky Ate a Bee used to be a band called the x-rays. Members of Chunky Ate a Bee used to be in jellicoe, glue, waster, crash arcade and beat kerfew in the 20th and 21st centuries.

Chunky Ate a Bee like to rock. Chunky Ate a Bee have been writing and recording recently. Chunky Ate a Bee hope to get it together and play some shows soon. Chunky really did eat a bee.

It's the same line up [as the x-rays] except Ed has moved to London and been replaced with a new guy called Jo and our name is now Chunky Ate a Bee.
