The day the sky fell

I am static, for epochs, reliving echoes of this fragment of a memory,
over and over in my dreams.

We were at the arcade by the shore
when the fires first crashed through the clouds
and in to our sky.

We all knew what was to come,
it had been written in the stars for as long we could remember.

As I held my parent’s hands, I looked up and saw tears in their eyes.

They were broken, yet I am invincible.

I knew this was the most glorious moment in history

yet it would be our last that we would ever share together.
[wreckage in this town, you will face
after times we shared, such parades
everybody here, in cavalcades
last signal trace, fades away
shame on this time’s, forsaken grace
fallen soldiers lie, in shallow graves
all the bodies here, have decayed
just angels left, anyway]
